Pandalam Palace Urges Government, Devaswom Board to Revise Stand on Sabarimala Women Entry Issue
Pathanamthitta: The Pandalam Palace Managing Committee has urged the government and the Travancore Devaswom Board to revise their stand in the Supreme Court on the Sabarimala women entry issue. The committee emphasized that necessary changes should be made in a manner that safeguards the temple’s traditions and customs. They also clarified that the stance of the palace is not politically motivated.
Reaffirming its solidarity with the devotees, the palace committee questioned the benefits of the upcoming Global Ayyappa Sangamam for ordinary pilgrims and stressed that devotees deserve clarity on how such events will serve them.
The committee further demanded the withdrawal of cases filed against those who participated in the 2018 Nama Japa protest marches. “All police cases and actions taken against devotees during the 2018 Nama Japa yatras should be withdrawn at the earliest. The government and the Devaswom Board must also assure devotees that such actions, which hurt their beliefs and sentiments, will never be repeated,” said Secretary M.R.S. Varma in a press release.
