About Edatharikathu Kavu Bhagavathi

Edatharikathu Kavu Bhagavathi is the village guardian deity who protects the Guruvayur temple region. She is called edatharikathu Kavu Bhagavathi because she is believed to reside on the left side of Lord Guruvayurappan. According to legend, the Goddess gave space for Guruvayurappan to reside and moved to the left side, while Lord Mahadeva moved to Mammiyoor. The Goddess is worshipped here as a calm form of Bhadrakali, seated under a sacred tree in a roofless sanctum, in the traditional kavu (sacred grove) concept.
