As part of the Mandala Pooja rituals, the sacred golden attire (Thanga Angi) of Lord Ayyappa will be brought to Sabarimala in a ceremonial chariot procession. The procession will begin from the Sree Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple at 7:00 AM on December 23 and It is expected to reach Sabarimala Sannidhanam by the evening of December 26, ahead of the evening deeparadhana at 6.30 pm, after which the idol will be adorned with the sacred attire.
On the afternoon of December 27, the Thanga Angi will once again be adorned, and the Mandala Pooja will be performed during the prescribed muhurtham.
The temple will close at 11:00 PM on December 27 after the traditional chanting of Harivarasanam, marking the conclusion of the Mandala Pooja ceremonies.
Mandala Pooja is often misunderstood and wrongly compared with diksha. This is incorrect, as diksha is a 48-day practice followed under Kerala’s Ayurvedic tradition for physical, mental, and spiritual purification. Diksha is a personal discipline and cannot be compared with the temple’s solar-based Mandala Pooja.
