Kerala Government Opposes ED Probe in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case

Thiruvananthapuram / Kollam:
The state government has informed the Kollam Vigilance Court that it opposes the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) investigation into the Sabarimala gold theft case. The objection was raised in response to the ED’s petition seeking access to certain documents. The court will consider the petition again on the 10th of this month.

Meanwhile, former Travancore Devaswom Board president A. Padmakumar has been arrested in the second case related to the Sabarimala gold theft. Investigators found evidence suggesting his involvement in the theft of gold plating from the temple’s door panels (dwarapalaka panels). Based on these findings, the investigation team added him as an accused.

Statements from former board president N. Vasu and others also pointed towards Padmakumar’s role in the incident. The arrest was formally recorded at the Thiruvananthapuram Special Sub-Jail, where he was produced. His remand period has been extended until the 18th of this month.
