Sabarimala: Security Tightened to Prevent Entry Using Forged Documents

Security forces have intensified screening measures to identify individuals attempting to enter the Sabarimala temple in Kerala and its surrounding areas using forged documents.

According to state intelligence inputs, individuals—including those from outside Kerala—arriving with falsified credentials may pose potential security risks. In view of the upcoming Makaravilakku festival, authorities will implement additional layers of verification to detect such individuals. Routine checks and surveillance have been strengthened along the route from Pampa to Sannidhanam.

Officials will also scrutinize the records of temporary staff, including those employed by the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). Reports suggest that some individuals have been working at various locations using counterfeit ID cards. Those identified will face legal consequences. The police and TDB are coordinating closely to track and address such cases. Although people carrying fake certificates have previously been detained, many were released after preliminary questioning.

In the forested regions of Sabarimala, the police and the Forest Department will conduct joint aerial surveillance using drones. During peak seasons, thieves, antisocial elements, and beggars often infiltrate the area, hiding in forest routes to avoid detection and entering with fabricated documents, including fake police clearance certificates. Their presence poses significant security concerns. Drone monitoring will be carried out in vulnerable locations such as Neelimala, Appachimedu, and Saramkuthi.

Strict Action Planned

“Strict action will be taken against workers who are not registered in police records. The Revenue Department squad and police shadow teams are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance in both Pampa and Sannidhanam,” said R. Anand, District Police Chief, Pathanamthitta.
