Thiruvabharanam Procession: Darshan Arranged at 11 Locations, Sacred Ornaments in the Main Casket; Sannidhanam on the Third Day via the Traditional Route

 

Pandalam: Preparations for the Thiruvabharanam (sacred ornaments) procession have been completed at the Pandalam and the Valiya Koyikkal Temple. To control the crowd, more than 300 police personnel have been deployed. An armed police group led by DySP G. Santhosh Kumar will accompany the procession to ensure security.

Darshan Facilities at 11 Locations

Along the procession route, the ornament caskets will be opened for devotees’ darshan at 11 locations. These are:

Kulanada Bhagavathi Temple, Ullannoor Devi Temple, Kuriyanapally Devi Temple, Pampadimon Ayyappa Temple, Ayiroor Puthiyakavu Devi Temple, Thiruvabharanappara, Idakkulam Ayyappa Temple, Vadaserikkara Cherukavu Devi Temple, Prayaar Mahavishnu Temple, Rajarajeshwari Mandapam at the Palace, and Laha Forest Department Rest House.

Devotees will witness the Makara Vilakku being lit by the TDB between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm.

Punartham Nal Narayanavarma as Representative; Maruthuvana Sivan Kutty as Guruswamy

The procession is led by Punartham Nal P. N. Narayanavarma of the Pandalam as the representative. He travels in a palanquin as the representative of the Pandalam Valiya Thampuran former Landlords and will stay at Pampa. He will climb the holy hill on the third day.

On the 18th, the Pandalam Family - sponsored Kalabhabhishekam will be held, and on the 19th, Guruthi will be performed in the presence of the Pandalam representative. Devotees will be allowed darshan until the night of the 19th. On the 20th, the temple will close around 6:00 am, after which the procession will descend with the Thiruvabharanam and begin the return journey.

This year, Maruthuvana K. N. Sivan Kutty has been appointed as the Guruswamy of the Thiruvabharanam casket-bearing team. He has been part of the team for 40 years. The appointment follows the withdrawal of Gangan Pillai of Kulathinal, who served as Guruswamy for 20 years, due to old age.


Ornaments in the Main Casket

The main casket contains the most important ornaments, including:

the Thirumukham (face ornament set with Indra Neelam gemstone suitable for adorning the idol of Lord Ayyappa), Navaratna ring, Mani mala, Sharappoli mala, Erikkinpumala, dagger, sword, gold plate, Prabhamandalam, and gold representations of elephant, tiger, and Lakshmi Swaroopam.

The representative ascends the Pathinettampadi (18 holy steps) holding the dagger from this main casket.

The second casket contains the gold vessel for Kalabhabhishekam, a silver-bound conch, and ritual vessels.

The third casket contains the ornaments used for the ceremonial procession at Sabarimala, including the Jeevatha of ARAYAN, Netti pattam, Thalappara, and the flags of Udumpara hills.
