Sabarimala Revenue Record at 440 Crore; Update on Ropeway Project; Know More

     Pilgrimage Season Revenue: The Sabarimala temple has earned a
     record-breaking Rs 440 crore during the 2024-25
     Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.

     Footfall: Approximately 53 lakh devotees (5,309,906) visited
     the Sabarimala temple this season, showcasing an unprecedented rush of
     pilgrims.

     Chairman P. S. Prashanth, along with other officials, made this
     announcement during a press conference.
 
Increase in Devotee Numbers: Devaswom Minister VN
Vasavan said in a press conference an increase of 6,32,308 devotees
compared to the previous year, highlighting the growing popularity of the
pilgrimage.

      Booking: Out of the total visitors, 10,03,305 devotees had
      darshan through spot booking.

      Queue and Spot Booking System: The system managed to accommodate 90,000
      to 1,08,000 devotees per day, exceeding the planned capacity of
      80,000.

      single-day attendance: 1,08,800 devotees

      Sales: Generated Rs 192 crore, up from Rs 147 crore last year.

      Donations: Contributed Rs 126 crore, an increase from Rs 109
      crore in the previous year.

      year's revenue was Rs 17 crore.

     Revenue: Last year's revenue for the same period was Rs 360 crore,
     indicating a significant year-on-year growth.
 
SABARIMALA
ROPEWAY PROJECT 
- Project
     Commencement: The construction of the Sabarimala ropeway project is
     set to begin within one month, utilizing a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT)
     basis.
 
- Completion
     Timeline: The project is expected to be completed within a year and a
     half from the start of construction.
 
- Impact
     on Employment: The introduction of the ropeway will lead to the
     displacement of dolly workers. However, there are plans in place for their
     rehabilitation.
 
- Health Department Report: This year,
     approximately 350,000 pilgrims required medical attention.
 
- Emergency Interventions: Timely medical
     treatment was successfully provided, saving the lives of 122 pilgrims who
     experienced heart attacks.
