Pathanamthitta: Authorities have taken swift action in connection with the recent Sanctity violation at Sabarimala, where a police officer was caught on camera entering the Sannidhanam wearing shoes. The officer has been relieved from duty, and a departmental inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The visuals of the violation, aired at last night had triggered widespread protests from devotees and Hindu organizations, who demanded immediate disciplinary measures. The incident, which took place near the Sopanam steps around 8 p.m., had raised serious concerns about the lack of adherence to temple traditions by officers deployed at the shrine.
Officials confirmed that the inquiry would examine how the breach occurred despite repeated instructions to police personnel about strictly following temple customs.
