Sabarimala Opens for Chingam Month; Keezhsanthi Selection Tomorrow Morning
Pathanamthitta: The Sabarimala temple will open today for the Chingam month poojas. Today At 5 p.m., in the presence of Tantri Kantharar Mahesh Mohanaru, Melshanthi (chief priest) Arun Kumar Namboothiri will open the temple doors and light the lamp.
On the first day of Chingam month, the temple will open at 5 a.m.
After the Ushapooja (morning worship) at 7:30 a.m., a draw will be held to select the Keezhsanthi (junior priest) for Sabarimala. The draw will take place in front of the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) and will be led by Devaswom Commissioner B. Sunilkumar.
At 9 a.m., a similar draw will be conducted at Pampa to select the Melshanthis of the Pampa Ganapathi Temple.
After completing the Chingam month poojas, the temple will close at 10 p.m. on August 21.
