TDB Blocks Proposal for KSRTC Bus Parking at Pampa Hilltop
Pathanamthitta: The district administration’s proposal to explore parking facilities for KSRTC buses at Pampa hilltop has met with firm resistance from the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), which asserts ownership of the land.
“Neither KSRTC nor the district administration can decide on parking without the sanction of the TDB. Such matters must first be inspected and approved by the high-power committee,” - TDB president P. S. Prashanth.
The proposal was raised during a review meeting chaired by District Collector S. Prem Krishnan to assess preparations for the upcoming Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku festival. An official statement after the meeting noted that queue systems will be introduced for pilgrims boarding KSRTC buses and that the possibility of accommodating 20 buses at Pampa hilltop will be examined.
Prasanth, however, stressed that the decision cannot be made unilaterally. “We have been providing parking facilities for KSRTC, but that does not mean they can take decisions without our consent,” he said.
