Sabarimala Women Entry Is Not a Closed Chapter, Says CPM’s M.V. Govindan”

Thiruvananthapuram: Responding to questions on whether the government and CPM had shifted their position on the Sabarimala women entry issue, CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan said on Friday that “the only thing that does not change is change.”

Speaking to reporters at the AKG Centre, Govindan clarified that there was no need for unnecessary discussion on the matter. The comments come in the wake of recent statements by NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair and SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, who had suggested that the government had changed its stance.

Govindan maintained that his position was clear, emphasizing: “There is no need for a postmortem of the past. At the same time, it is not a closed chapter.”
