Kerala Police to Deploy 18,741 Personnel for Sabarimala Pilgrimage Season
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police have completed extensive preparations to ensure a safe and orderly Mandala–Makaravilakku pilgrimage season, which begins on November 17, marking the first day of the Malayalam month of Vrischikam.
A total of 18,741 police personnel, including senior officers, special units, and civil police staff, will be deployed at the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple throughout the two-month festival season.
To manage the large influx of pilgrims, the police have introduced a six-phase security plan, with operations divided across the Nilakkal, Pampa, and Sannidhanam zones.
Security measures include:
Drone surveillance in all three zones for real-time monitoring
Bike and mobile patrols to prevent traffic violations and road accidents
Strengthened crowd control and emergency response arrangements
The police have stated that all efforts are being coordinated to provide pilgrims a safe, smooth, and well-regulated pilgrimage experience.
