Over 6 Lakh Pilgrims Arrive at Sabarimala; Special Committee to Regulate Spot Booking

A special committee has been formed to determine the daily quota for Sabarimala spot booking. The decision was taken at a high-level review meeting held at Pampa under the leadership of the Devaswom Minister. Since the opening of the temple for the Mandala season, more than six lakh pilgrims have reached the Sabarimala Sannidhanam. At present, the crowd at the hill shrine is reported to be normal. Online booking slots up to December 25 have already been fully reserved.

The newly formed committee will regulate the number of spot bookings allowed each day. The Police Coordinator, Executive Officer, and Special Commissioner will serve as members of this committee. The committee was constituted in accordance with the directions of the High Court. Based on real-time assessment of crowd flow, the spot booking limit is being gradually increased. RAF teams have also taken charge of security at the Sannidhanam.

The meeting also decided to appoint additional temporary workers. An assessment indicated that more than 400 daily-wage workers would be required. It was further resolved to expedite all pending repair works and to convene review meetings regularly.
