Former TDB Member Arrested in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold theft cases has arrested a former member of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) in connection with the incidents.
The arrested person, N Vijayakumar, served as a TDB member in 2019. He was taken into custody after failing to appear before the SIT despite repeated summons.
Another former board member from the same period, K P Sankardas, along with Vijayakumar, had earlier approached the Kollam Vigilance Court seeking anticipatory bail. The petitions are still pending before the court.
Earlier, the SIT had arrested former TDB presidents A Padmakumar and N Vasu for their alleged involvement in the theft of gold from Sabarimala temple artefacts.
The accused board members have denied the allegations, stating that if any wrongdoing occurred, it may have been carried out by board employees.
