Sabarimala Ayyappa Yuva Seva Samithi

Traditional Kerala Sadya Welcomes Sabarimala Pilgrims

As part of the Annadanam program, the distribution of traditional Kerala Sadya for Ayyappa devotees has begun at Sabarimala on 21.12.25. Devaswom Executive Officer O.G. Biju inaugurated the service by lighting the ceremonial lamp and offering the Sadya to Lord Ayyappa.

The feast reflects the authentic taste of Kerala, featuring Parippu, Sambar, Rasam, Avial, Thoran, Pickle, Pappadam, and Payasam. To maintain variety and freshness, Avial and Thoran are prepared differently each day, while More, Rasam, or Pulissery are served on rotation. A new variety of Payasam is also offered daily.

In line with eco-friendly practices, food is served using steel plates and glasses. Every afternoon, over 5,000 pilgrims are provided with meals. Going forward, traditional Sadya and Pulao will be served on alternate days.

After resolving initial technical delays, the authorities are now fully prepared to continue this noble service, aiming to share the rich culinary and cultural heritage of Kerala with devotees arriving from across the world.
