Nearly One Lakh Pilgrims Visit Sabarimala in a Single Day
On the dawn of the New Year, long queues of devotees were seen at Sabarimala to offer prayers to Lord Ayyappa. According to the Travancore Devaswom Board, nearly one lakh pilgrims visited Sabarimala for darshan in a single day. The heavy turnout reflects the peak of the ongoing pilgrimage season and the strong faith of devotees from across the country.
Long queues were reported at major points including Pamba, Marakkoottam, and the Sannidhanam from early morning. Authorities implemented strict crowd control measures at Nilakkal and Pamba, allowing pilgrims to proceed to the Sannidhanam in a regulated manner to ensure safety and smooth movement.
Despite the large influx, darshan proceeded without major disruptions. Police, Devaswom Board officials, and volunteer groups worked together to manage the crowd and provide assistance to pilgrims. Additional security and medical teams were deployed to handle emergencies and ensure the well-being of devotees.
Officials have warned that the number of pilgrims may increase further in the coming days due to holidays. Devotees have been advised to follow instructions issued by authorities and cooperate with crowd management measures for a safe pilgrimage experience.
The Travancore Devaswom Board stated that continuous monitoring is in place to manage the rush effectively and to ensure that pilgrims can complete their darshan in an orderly and peaceful manner.
