Sabarimala Gold Case: SIT Continues Inspection at Sannidhanam, Focus on Gold Plating and Strong Room
The SIT’s inspection at Sannidhanam in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case will continue today as well. It is indicated that the SIT team, which arrived at Sannidhanam yesterday, conducted inspections on the gold plating near the sanctum sanctorum and in the strong room. The investigating team is aiming to collect maximum information. The SIT team will remain at Sannidhanam today and tomorrow.
The SIT will also gather information regarding the replacement of the flagstaff (kodimaram). The investigation team, including SP Sashidharan, arrived at Sannidhanam yesterday afternoon. The inspection and evidence collection at Sannidhanam were carried out with the permission of the High Court. The SIT plans to move the investigation forward by collecting as much evidence as possible from Sannidhanam related to the gold theft.
Meanwhile, follow-up actions may take place today based on the statewide raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) yesterday in connection with financial transactions. Raids lasting several hours were carried out yesterday focusing on the houses of those arrested in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The ED will begin the next phase of its investigation based on the information obtained from here and the banking transactions.
In the gold theft case, the Kollam Vigilance Court will pronounce its verdict today on the bail plea filed by the main accused, Unnikrishnan Potti. The High Court will also deliver its verdict today on the bail pleas of former Travancore Devaswom Board president A. Padmakumar, former administrative officer Murari Babu, and gold trader Govardhan.
