Sabarimala gold theft case: SIT questions actor Jayaram, records statement
Chennai: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has made a crucial move in the Sabarimala gold theft case. Actor Jayaram was questioned by the SIT. The questioning took place at his residence in Chennai. Jayaram stated that his association with Unnikrishnan Potty began at Sabarimala and that Potty had visited his house several times in connection with poojas (rituals).
Jayaram said that he has been visiting the Sabarimala temple every year for the last 40 years. He met Unnikrishnan Potty during these visits. He also said that he met Govardhanan through Potty. According to Jayaram, Potty told him that keeping newly made gold plates for the Sabarimala temple at home and performing prayers would bring good fortune. Based on this belief, prayers were held at his house. Jayaram also said that he has taken part in prayers at the temple.
Jayaram said that he trusted Potty and was not aware of any financial transactions or fraud. He also stated that he participated when the wooden panel was consecrated at Smart Creations after Potty invited him. He further said that he took part in the procession when the door panels were taken to Ilampally Temple in Kottayam. Jayaram reiterated that he had no knowledge of any financial dealings or cheating. Meanwhile, in the Sabarimala gold theft case, Jayaram will be a witness.
