Kerala HC Considers Virtual Queue, Spot Booking System for Monthly Poojas

The Kerala High Court is looking at whether the virtual queue and spot booking system used during the Mandala–Makaravilakku season should also be used for the monthly poojas at Sabarimala temple.

A bench of Justices V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K. V. Jayakumar asked the state government, the chief police coordinator, and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to give their responses. The judges were reviewing a report from the Sabarimala special commissioner.

During the hearing, the court mentioned its earlier order that only pilgrims with valid Virtual-Q or spot-booking passes, for a specific date and time, should be allowed to go to Sannidhanam because of heavy crowds.

The court noted that there is also a large number of pilgrims during the monthly poojas. So it asked whether the same booking system should be followed during those days too.

The case has been postponed to February 18 for replies from all concerned authorities, including the TDB.
