Nilakkal Annadanam Scam: ED Seizes Assets of of Ex-TDB Officer
In the Nilakkal annadanam financial irregularity case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached assets worth ₹40.48 lakh belonging to former TDB Administrative Officer J. Jayaprakash and his wife. Investigators found that during the 2018–19 Mandala–Makaravilakku pilgrimage season, fake bills were created for the purchase of vegetables and other essential items, and ₹59.98 lakh was fraudulently taken from the Devaswom fund. The ED has taken action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The case was first investigated by the police and was later taken over by the ED considering the scale of the irregularities. The investigation revealed that a large amount meant for the Devaswom Board was diverted by the accused. After examining the property details of the former officer, a native of Pathanamthitta, the ED began attachment proceedings. Officials indicate that more strict actions may follow in the coming days.
