NSG Commandos Conduct Mock Drill at Sabarimala Sannidhanam and Pamba

Pamba: A large-scale security mock drill was successfully conducted at Sabarimala Sannidhanam and Pamba, two of Kerala's most sensitive and high-security pilgrimage locations. The exercise was carried out jointly by commandos of the National Security Guard (NSG), Kerala Police's special commando units, and district police personnel.

The drill was aimed at enhancing preparedness and response mechanisms in the event of a terrorist attack in the high-security zone. Around 150 NSG commandos from New Delhi participated in the exercise, along with 30 commandos from the Kerala Police's special forces and nearly 50 officers from the district police.

The operation was led by Pathanamthitta District Police Chief R. Anand, with senior NSG officials overseeing the exercise. Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and other senior officers from Pathanamthitta district also took part in the training.

Separate mock drills were conducted at Sannidhanam and Pamba, simulating scenarios involving terrorists taking hostages. The exercise focused on hostage rescue operations, neutralizing armed threats, and ensuring the safe evacuation of civilians through coordinated commando action.

The district administration coordinated the participation of various government departments to assess inter-agency cooperation and emergency response capabilities. Officials said the drill was designed to strengthen security preparedness and improve coordination among agencies responsible for safeguarding one of the country's most important pilgrimage centers.

The successful completion of the exercise underscores the commitment of security agencies to maintaining a high level of readiness and ensuring the safety of millions of devotees who visit Sabarimala each year.
