O.G. Biju Removed as Sabarimala Executive Officer After Expressing Unwillingness to Continue
Thiruvananthapuram: O.G. Biju has been removed from the post of Executive Officer of Sabarimala. The decision was taken after obtaining a written statement from the official expressing his unwillingness to continue in the position. The board's move comes in the wake of remarks made by the High Court against Biju.
Biju's involvement had been under suspicion in connection with alleged irregularities in the Aadiya Shishtam Neyyu (GHEE) and Ashtabhishekam corruption cases. The board had reappointed him without obtaining permission from the Kerala High Court.
Recently, the High Court sought an explanation regarding the continued posting of officials of the Travancore Devaswom Board at Sabarimala for extended periods. The court specifically raised concerns about senior officials O.G. Biju and S. Sreenivas continuing to serve there in various administrative positions. The intervention by the Devaswom Bench came while hearing a suo motu case based on a report submitted by the Special Commissioner regarding irregularities in the Ashtabhishekam rituals.
