Sabarimala gold theft case: SIT issues notice to former TDB president P.S. Prashanth, ex-member Ajikumar.
Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged irregularities in the transfer of gold-clad copper plates of the Dwarapalaka idols at the Sabarimala temple has issued notices to former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president P.S. Prashanth and former board member Ajikumar.
The two former officials have been directed to appear before the SIT next week for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to sources, the probe will focus on the transfer of the gold plates to Smart Creations during the tenure of the previous TDB administration without obtaining prior permission from the Kerala High Court. The SIT's latest move follows a High Court directive to expand the investigation to cover transactions carried out in 2025 as well.
Meanwhile, the SIT is scheduled to visit Sabarimala on Sunday (June 14, 2026) to collect additional samples in connection with the case. Investigators are expected to complete the final stages of the probe after examining the fresh samples and proceed with further legal action based on the findings.
