Kerala High Court Directs Immediate Submission of Final Report in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case
KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to submit its final report at the earliest in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The direction came after the scientific examination reports became available.
The SIT informed the court that statements from 54 witnesses have been recorded in connection with the 2025 case involving the alleged attempt to smuggle the gold-plated Dwarapalaka panels. It also stated that the scientific examination results have helped investigators understand the method used by the accused in carrying out the alleged crime.
The High Court has posted the case for further hearing on September 3.
Earlier, the SIT had submitted a report before the High Court naming former Travancore Devaswom Board President P.S. Prasanth, the Devaswom Board administrative committee, and the Thantri as accused in the case.
According to the SIT, the accused allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy in 2019 to conceal the reduction in the quantity of gold used while re-plating the gold-covered Dwarapalaka panels. The investigation further found that the panels were taken to Chennai in violation of Devaswom Board rules as part of a carefully planned operation carried out over several years, allegedly involving the sponsor and officials of the Travancore Devaswom Board.
