Widespread Rain Expected Across Kerala; Seven Districts Under Yellow Alert; Sabarimala Devotees Advised to Carry Raincoats
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised Kerala's rain warning, issuing a Yellow Alert for seven districts today, up from the earlier alert for four districts.
The districts under alert are Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod. For tomorrow, a Yellow Alert has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall, defined as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain within 24 hours.
A low-pressure area extending from the southwestern Bay of Bengal to the north Lakshadweep region, through north Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, and north Kerala, is expected to keep rain active across the state.
The IMD has warned that rainfall is likely to continue until July 21. Devotees and the public are advised to carry umbrellas or raincoats while travelling.
