TDB Likely to Upgrade Banking System for Sabarimala Online Services; Talks Underway

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) is likely to replace Dhanalakshmi Bank as the service provider for Sabarimala's online platform, amid concerns that the bank has been unable to expand the system to meet the growing demand from devotees.

As part of efforts to strengthen the digital infrastructure ahead of the upcoming pilgrimage season, the Board is exploring alternative banking partners capable of offering a more robust and scalable online service.

The TDB President and Board members are scheduled to hold discussions on Tuesday with banks that have submitted proposals to improve and expand Sabarimala's online services. The talks are expected to focus on enhancing the efficiency of the online booking and payment system used by lakhs of pilgrims every year.

The move comes as the Board seeks to modernize Sabarimala's digital services and ensure that the online platform can handle increasing user traffic during the busy Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. A final decision on the new banking partner is expected after evaluating the proposals received from participating banks.
