Will Brahmadattan Become the New Sabarimala Thantri? TDB Meeting Tomorrow to Decide

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has ruled that the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) is free to take a decision regarding the position of Sabarimala Thantri Kandararu Rajeevaru. The Board is expected to take a crucial decision at its meeting on tomorrow on whether Rajeevaru should continue as the temple's Thantri.

Rajeevaru had written to the TDB requesting that he be relieved from the post of Sabarimala Thantri and that his son, Brahmadattan, be appointed in his place. In the letter, he also sought to be removed from the Melsanthi interview board and requested that his son be nominated instead.

Rajeevaru was scheduled to serve as the Thantri during this year's Mandala pilgrimage season. He was named as an accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, following which he submitted the request.

The Travancore Devaswom Board sought the Kerala High Court's opinion based on Rajeevar's letter, after which the court clarified that the Board has the authority to take the final decision.
