Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple to Get Permanent Postal Stamp
Thiruvananthapuram: The historic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram is set to receive its own permanent postal stamp, with the India Post Department issuing the stamp as a mark of honour to the renowned temple.
The permanent stamp will be officially released on August 10 at a ceremony to be held at the Fort Post Office in Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar will formally unveil the stamp.
The stamp features the temple’s eastern gopuram along with an image of Lord Padmanabhaswamy in the Ananthasayana posture. From August 10, letters and parcels posted from the Fort Post Office will carry the special permanent stamp.
With this release, the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple will become the fourth temple in Kerala to receive a permanent postal stamp.
The other temples that have previously received this recognition are Sabarimala Sree Ayyappa Swamy Temple, Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple and Madhur Sree Siddhi Vinayaka Temple in Kasaragod.
The stamp will also be the 43rd permanent postal stamp issued in Kerala for a site of historical and cultural significance.
Along with the permanent stamp, India Post will release a premium special postage cover featuring an image of Lord Padmanabhaswamy in gold foil. In the first phase, 2,000 covers priced at ₹200 each will be issued.
The initiative adds another distinction to the centuries-old Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple while highlighting its historical, cultural and spiritual significance through India’s postal heritage.
