V.S. Sankaran Namboothiri Selected as Melshanthi of Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple for 2026–27
Pathanamthitta: V.S. Sankaran Namboothiri has been selected as the Melshanthi of the Sree Parthasarathi Temple, Thiruvaranmula, for 2026–27 through the traditional draw-of-lots method, similar to the Melshanthi selection process followed at Sabarimala.
The draw to select the Melshanthi for 2026–27 was held in front of the Aranmula temple. As part of the traditional selection process, sealed lots containing the names of the eligible priests were placed for the draw.
Children were invited to pick the sealed lots, and the name of V.S. Sankaran Namboothiri was selected, making him the Melshanthi of the temple for the 2026–27 term.
The selected Melshanthi will be responsible for conducting the daily poojas, rituals and other religious ceremonies at the temple in accordance with established traditions and customs.
