Edathavalams, Take-A-Break Centres to Be Made Ready Before November 1 for Sabarimala Pilgrims; Collector Reviews Pilgrimage Season Arrangements

Pathanamthitta: Pathanamthitta District Collector Nizamudeen A IAS reviewed the existing facilities and arrangements required at Nilakkal, Pampa, Sannidhanam and various Edathavalams (Pilgrim Facilitation Centres) ahead of the 2026-27 Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.A review meeting was held with the participation of local self-government secretaries, Devaswom representatives and trustees, in the presence of officials from the Local Self Government Department and Suchitwa Mission.
The meeting assessed the facilities available at various Edathavalams and reviewed the arrangements required to support pilgrims during the upcoming pilgrimage season.
Officials were directed to ensure adequate parking, drinking water, electricity and sanitation facilities at all Edathavalams. The necessary arrangements were reviewed to ensure that these basic facilities are available to pilgrims during the pilgrimage period.
The meeting also reviewed the status of Take-A-Break centres located along the Sabarimala pilgrimage routes. The concerned local-body secretaries were directed to ensure that all such centres are made operational before November 1.
The preparations are aimed at ensuring the availability of essential facilities at pilgrim transit centres and along the Sabarimala routes during the Mandala-Makaravilakku season.
