Kerala HC Directs SIT to Submit Final Report in Sabarimala Gold Theft Case by September 25

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged misappropriation of gold from Sabarimala temple to submit its final report before the Vigilance Court, Kollam, by September 25.

SIT head S. Sasidharan told the court that the investigation was almost complete and the final report was expected to be filed by the deadline.

The SIT has sent samples of the ‘stripping salt’ and ‘cleaning salt’ allegedly used in removing gold from temple artefacts to the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur. The test results are expected within two weeks and could help establish the method used to strip the gold.

The SIT also informed the court that the probe into the alleged gold misappropriation involving the Dwarapalaka idols was progressing along with the investigation into events in 2025 and could be completed without further delay.

A Division Bench of Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan V. and Justice K.V. Jayakumar said the investigation had progressed substantially and directed the SIT to complete the remaining steps expeditiously.

The case will be heard again on October 7.
