Kerala Government Plans to Develop Sabarimala and Guruvayur on Tirupati Model

Kochi: Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan said that the Sabarimala and Guruvayur temples will be developed on the Tirupati model to attract pilgrims from across India and around the world.
He said the government is ready to spend up to ₹1,000 crore for the project, if needed, to develop the two temples as major pilgrimage centres.
Speaking at a meeting organised by the Akhila Bharata Ayyappa Seva Sangham Paravur Union, the Chief Minister said architects and other experts who worked on the Tirupati model have been asked to visit Sabarimala and Guruvayur.
The government will start further steps after the current Sabarimala pilgrimage season, he said. The Telangana government will also be involved in the project.
Sabarimala Season Preparations
Satheesan said the government expects this year's Sabarimala pilgrimage season to be well organised. The government and the Travancore Devaswom Board are working together for the arrangements.
He said the government has already completed the necessary preparations from its side. Road-related works will also be completed quickly.
A meeting of the concerned officials was held in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this month to review the preparations. A larger meeting will be held at Pampa in early October, the Chief Minister said.
