The announcement was made by Transport Minister C.P. John at a Sabarimala review meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram under the chairmanship of Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan.

The Nilakkal-Pampa chain service will operate 24×7 throughout the Mandala-Makaravilakku season, ensuring round-the-clock transportation for pilgrims between Nilakkal and Pampa.

A pandal (resting shed) will also be arranged at Nilakkal to provide resting space for pilgrims and facilitate better crowd management. Authorities were also directed to ensure that parking grounds are properly maintained and not left overgrown with vegetation.

The additional KSRTC services are part of wider preparations to ensure smooth transportation and adequate facilities for the large number of pilgrims expected during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season.
