TDB Tightens Procurement Process at Sabarimala, Fresh Jaggery Tender Invited
Thiruvananthapuram: On Thursday, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President K. Jayakumar said tenders have been awarded for all products required for the preparation of Appam and Aravana, except jaggery.
According to Jayakumar, the Board conducted two rounds of tenders for procuring jaggery, but failed to finalise a supplier. Fresh tenders have now been invited, including from Maharashtra.
Jayakumar said the Board has decided to require suppliers to deliver materials up to Pampa as part of its efforts to eliminate middlemen from the procurement process.
He added that the tender process for shops and other pending matters would also be completed soon.
Asked whether his strict approach as TDB president was causing difficulties for some people, Jayakumar replied, “It should. I am sure the Lord has no difficulty with it.”
