Authorities to Make Extensive Arrangements for Sabarimala Pilgrims in Chengannur
Alappuzha: Authorities are making preparations to ensure adequate facilities, safety and smooth travel arrangements for devotees arriving in Alappuzha district during the upcoming Sabarimala pilgrimage season. A meeting was held to review and coordinate the necessary arrangements.
From November 14, facilities including resting spaces for pilgrims (viri), drinking water, parking areas, bio-toilets and CCTV surveillance will be made available at major pilgrim transit points, including Chengannur Railway Station, the KSRTC bus stand, Chengannur Mahadeva Temple, Ambalappuzha and Haripad.
Special bus services will be arranged from Chengannur Railway Station to facilitate pilgrim travel. Additional police personnel will be deployed at key locations, along with enhanced security measures to ensure the safety of devotees.
To maintain cleanliness, sanitation workers will be assigned to major pilgrim centres. Joint inspections by various departments will also be conducted to remove unauthorised encroachments and ensure food safety at establishments catering to pilgrims.
The Health Department has been directed to ensure adequate emergency medical facilities throughout the pilgrimage season. Health centres have been instructed to maintain sufficient stocks of essential medicines and ensure the availability of doctors, ambulance services and emergency treatment facilities.
The arrangements are aimed at providing a safe, hygienic and convenient pilgrimage experience for devotees travelling through the district during the annual Sabarimala season.
