Doctor Suspended Over Fake Health Cards Issued to Sabarimala Hotel Workers Without Medical Tests
Pathanamthitta: A retired government doctor working at the Seethathode Primary Health Centre has been suspended in connection with the issuance of fake health cards to hotel workers at Sabarimala.
Dr. J. Vincent Xavier, who was working on a contract basis, was suspended by the Seethathode Medical Officer after it was found that he had signed the fake health cards issued through Amma Clinic in Seethathode.
An investigation revealed that the health cards were issued in exchange for money without physically examining the applicants or conducting the required medical checks.
Authorities also found that Amma Clinic, which prepared the health cards, was operating without the necessary documents or legal authorisation.
Following the findings, the Health Department directed the local panchayat to shut down Amma Clinic and an associated private laboratory.
Police are also likely to register a case against those responsible for issuing the fake health cards.
