Kerala Government Allocates Rs 3.60 Crore for Police Mess Facilities at Sabarimala
Pathanamthitta: The Kerala Home Department has increased the mess grant for police personnel deployed during the upcoming Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. The daily food allowance for each officer has been raised from Rs 79 to Rs 90.
A total of Rs 3.60 crore has been allocated for providing meals to police personnel during the pilgrimage season.
The mess facilities will be available to police personnel deployed at Sannidhanam, Pampa, Nilakkal, Maniyar and Erumeli.
The mess system was introduced in 2011 by the then Oommen Chandy-led government to provide meals to police personnel on duty at Sabarimala and surrounding areas during the pilgrimage season.
However, delays in releasing the mess grant had been reported on several occasions during the previous government's tenure. The latest decision increases the daily food allowance by Rs 11 per officer ahead of the upcoming pilgrimage season.
