Special Commissioner Assesses Erumeli Preparations Ahead of Sabarimala Mandala Season

Erumeli: With just 15 days remaining for the start of the Sabarimala Mandala pilgrimage season, Sabarimala Special Commissioner and Special Judge R. Jayakrishnan visited Erumeli Temple to inspect the ongoing preparations and assess the progress of various development and cleaning works.

During the visit, the Special Commissioner inspected the installation of interlocking tiles in the temple courtyard, painting works, and cleaning activities at Valiyathodu and its surrounding areas. Officials briefed him on the progress of the works, following which he issued necessary instructions.

According to panchayat authorities, cleaning and maintenance activities at the temple and its surroundings are progressing in a better and more organised manner compared to previous years.

The removal and segregation of plastic waste, clothes, wooden pieces, and other materials collected from Valiyathodu are progressing rapidly. The panchayat has also taken steps to transport sand removed from the stream to a designated location approximately two kilometres away.

Meanwhile, authorities have assured that additional spot booking slots will be made available for pilgrims arriving at Erumeli during the upcoming pilgrimage season.

A final decision regarding the inauguration and opening of the newly constructed building, developed at a cost of Rs 14 crore, is also expected soon.

Officials stated that all essential facilities for pilgrims would be completed within the stipulated time. They also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing works in and around the temple premises ahead of the Mandala pilgrimage season.
