Food Price Lists in Six Languages to Help Sabarimala Pilgrims in Chengannur
Food outlets, hotels and restaurants at pilgrim centres in Chengannur taluk have been directed to display price lists in six languages to help Sabarimala pilgrims arriving from other states.
The directive was issued at a meeting chaired by the Revenue Divisional Officer with traders and owners of bakeries, restaurants and other food establishments ahead of the Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season.
The authorities warned that traders must not manipulate food prices or weights. They must not provide quantities below the prescribed standards or charge more than the displayed prices.
Strict action, including criminal proceedings, will be taken against establishments that fail to display price lists or charge pilgrims more than the prescribed rates, the Revenue Divisional Officer said.
