Kerala High Court Seeks Urgent Report on Unauthorised Occupancy in Sabarimala Donor Houses

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has directed the chief police coordinator at Sabarimala and the Pampa station house officer to submit detailed reports by Monday regarding unauthorised occupants in donor houses at Sannidhanam. The court’s order, issued by Justices Anil K. Narendran and P.V. Balakrishnan, also seeks information on media personnel and government officers who left Sabarimala with keys to rooms allotted for their stay. This directive comes in response to a report by the Sabarimala special commissioner, which was submitted during a hearing on a petition related to Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) matters.

The special commissioner’s report highlighted several issues concerning room allocations at Sannidhanam. It revealed that Anilkumar, representing ‘Kumaran Silks’, has been permanently occupying a room in the cellar of Sabari Guest House and another in Sivasakthi (DH 5), where tiles were laid. The report also noted damage to tiles in Sabari Guest House caused by breaking coconuts inside the room, prompting the court to seek action to address the issue.

Additionally, the Travancore Devaswom Board’s standing counsel informed the court on Tuesday that a report from the executive engineer of Sabarimala development projects would be submitted by the next hearing date. The court further instructed the state government and TDB to provide clarity on the disposal of 14 sacks of foreign coins and mutilated currency found in the old bhandaram, as highlighted in the Special commissioner’s report.
