Pandalam Valiya Koyikkal Temple Reopens After Shudhi Rituals Following Demise of Pandalam Royal Family Member
Pandalam, Kerala – The Pandalam Valiya Koyikkal Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, the ancestral shrine of the Pandalam royal family, reopened on June 28, 2025, after a 12-day closure due to the passing of Pooradam Nāḷ Kerala Varma, a member of the Pandalam royal family. The temple, located within the Pandalam Palace premises in Pathanamthitta district, underwent traditional purification rituals, known as shudhi, following the period of ritual impurity (ashudhi) observed after the royal family member demise.
