Wooden Idol goddess Installation at Cheerappanchira Ayyappaswami Temple



June 29, 2025 –  Cheerappanchira Sree Ayyappaswami Temple prepares for the extremely rare installation of a wooden idol (Darubimbi Pratishtha) for a powerful associated deity. This significant ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, between 11:15 AM and 11:50 AM.
The idol consecration will take place at the sub-shrine (Upasthanam) of Malikappurathamma within the temple complex. This deity holds profound spiritual importance, being revered as the fierce Kalari Paradevatha – the family deity associated with the traditional martial arts. She is also worshipped as Aishwaryaroopini, the embodiment of prosperity, similar to the revered Goddess Padakali. The rarity of this particular wooden idol installation underscores its exceptional significance in the temple's history.
This installation is a key highlights, the temple will honor traditional ritualistic offerings known as 'Kalayudukkam.' & 'Cheerapazham' and the symbolic 'Ulakkudumbam' of Malikappurathamma. These rituals are deeply rooted in tradition, symbolizing devotion, abundance, and the cultural heritage associated with the temple's centuries-old customs.
