Global Ayyappa Sangamam on Saturday; 3,500 Delegates to Attend
PAMPA: The historic Global Ayyappa Sangamam will be held on Saturday at the banks of Triveni in Pampa. Final preparations were reviewed by Devaswom Minister V. N. Vasavan.
Around 3,500 delegates are expected to take part in the conclave, with registrations crossing 5,000. Only those with admission passes will be allowed entry, with on-spot registration open from 6 am to 9 am.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event at 9.30 am at the main venue. Key sessions will focus on the Sabarimala master plan, with discussions on spiritual tourism at the Hill Top venue and crowd control at the Pampa Sreerama Saketham Auditorium. The Devaswom Board will consolidate outcomes for future development.
Minister Vasavan said the government was open to sponsorship support from delegates, clarifying that the High Court had not imposed any restrictions. Devaswom Board president P. S. Prashanth revealed that the event cost ₹7 crore, fully met through sponsorship.
For security, ADGP S. Sreejith has deployed 1,000 police personnel. With the Sabarimala temple open for Kannimasam rituals, officials assured that arrangements would not affect devotees. Special facilities will also be provided for Sangamam participants who wish to visit the shrine.
The event will see the participation of Tamil Nadu ministers B. K. Sekhar Babu and Palanivel Thyagarajan, Thantri Kandararu Mahesh Mohanararu, Vellappally Natesan of SNDP Yogam, N. Sangeethkumar of NSS, Punnala Sreekumar of KPMS, P. K. Sajeev of Malayaraya Samajam, Karimpuzha Raman of Kerala Brahmin Sabha, and Swami Prabodha Theertha of Sivagiri Mutt. Representatives of Ambalappuzha and Alangad Petta Sangams will also attend.
