Kerala High Court Seeks Details of Police Postings at Sabarimala

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has directed the Chief Police Coordinator of Sabarimala to  submit a detailed list of all police officers currently posted at Sannidhanam and Pamba. The court asked for information on how long each officer has served and to identify those who have been in the same post for more than two years.

The directive came after the Sabarimala Special Commissioner reported that one officer had been serving as Police Controller at Sannidhanam for over 20 years. The officer was recently replaced by R. Krishnakumar for the 2025–26 Mandala-Makaravilakku season.

A division bench of Justices V. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K. V. Jayakumar observed that long postings in sensitive places could affect transparency and efficiency. The court also directed that the background and service record of the newly appointed officer be verified, including any past disciplinary issues.

The Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), Thiruvananthapuram, has been added to the case, and the Chief Police Coordinator must file a detailed report before the next hearing on November 14.
