Southern Railway Announces ; Additional Sabarimala Trips Extended
Southern Railway has announced a series of Christmas, New Year, and Sabarimala Special Trains to manage the heavy festive-season rush and ensure smoother travel for passengers across key routes.
LTT – Thiruvananthapuram North Special (Train No. 01171/01172)
Central Railway will operate four special services between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) and Thiruvananthapuram North, catering to peak holiday traffic.
Up Journey: LTT → Thiruvananthapuram North (01171)
Departure: 16:00 hrs from 18th Dec 2025 to 8th Jan 2026 (Thursdays)
Arrival: 23:30 hrs next day
Major halts: Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri, Madgaon, Karwar, Udupi, Mangaluru Jn, Kannur, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur, Thrissur, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Kayamkulam, Kollam, and Varkala.
Return Journey: Thiruvananthapuram North → LTT (01172)
Departure: 16:20 hrs from 20th Dec 2025 to 10th Jan 2026 (Saturdays)
Arrival: 01:00 hrs on third day
Important stops: Varkala, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Tiruvalla, Changanasseri, Ernakulam Town, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur, Mangaluru Jn, Udupi, Karwar, Madgaon, Ratnagiri, Pen, Panvel, Thane.
Coach Composition
The special trains will run with a robust 21-coach rake, including:
1 AC Two-Tier,
6 AC Three-Tier,
9 Sleeper Class,
4 General Second Class,
1 Second Class (Divyangjan-friendly), and
1 Luggage-cum-Brake Van.
Sabarimala Specials Extended for One More Trip
South Central Railway has also extended two Sabarimala special services for one additional trip each, maintaining their existing schedules, stoppages, and coach composition.
