Southern Railway Announces Multiple Special Trains
December 2025:
To clear the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the Sabarimala and Christmas season, Southern Railway has announced a series of special long-distance express trains connecting Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
Vadodara–Kottayam Express Specials
Western Railway will operate Train Nos. 09124/09123 Vadodara–Kottayam–Vadodara Express Specials from 20 December 2025 to 11 January 2026.
09124 Vadodara–Kottayam will depart Vadodara at 09.05 hrs on Saturdays and reach Kottayam at 19.00 hrs the next day (4 services).
09123 Kottayam–Vadodara will leave Kottayam at 21.00 hrs on Sundays and arrive at Vadodara at 06.00 hrs on the third day (4 services).
The train will halt at major stations including Surat, Panvel, Madgaon, Mangaluru Junction, Kozhikode, Ernakulam Town and Thrissur. The rake includes AC First Class, AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper, General Second Class coaches, a Divyangjan-friendly coach and a luggage-cum-brake van.
Charlapalli–Mangaluru Junction Express Special
South Central Railway has notified Train Nos. 07267/07268 Charlapalli–Mangaluru Junction–Charlapalli Express Special.
07267 will depart Charlapalli at 23.30 hrs on 24 December 2025 (Wednesday) and reach Mangaluru Junction at 06.55 hrs on the third day.
07268 will depart Mangaluru Junction at 09.55 hrs on 26 December 2025 (Friday) and reach Charlapalli at 17.00 hrs the next day.
This service will cater to passengers travelling via Guntur, Nellore, Salem, Erode, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.
Charlapalli–Mangaluru Central Express Special
Sabarimala Devotees Can Get Connecting Train From Shoranur/Palakkad/Coimbatore/Podanur/Erode

Additionally, Train Nos. 07269/07270 Charlapalli–Mangaluru Central–Charlapalli Express Special will operate as a one-time service.
07269 will leave Charlapalli at 23.30 hrs on 28 December 2025 (Sunday) and reach Mangaluru Central at 06.55 hrs.
07270 will depart Mangaluru Central at 09.55 hrs on 30 December 2025 (Tuesday) and arrive at Charlapalli at 17.00 hrs the following day.
This train will run with AC 3-Tier, AC 3-Tier Economy, General Second Class, a Divyangjan-friendly coach and a luggage-cum-brake van.
Southern Railway has stated that advance reservation for all the above special trains will open shortly, urging passengers to plan their journeys early to avoid last-minute rush.
