Court Gets Crucial VSSC Scientific Report in Sabarimala Gold Theft Investigation

The results of the scientific examination conducted on the gold plating at the Sannidhanam in connection with the Sabarimala gold theft case have been submitted to the Kollam Vigilance Court. The report of the examination carried out at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, was submitted to the court in a sealed cover.

A total of 15 samples collected from the gold-plated surfaces of the sanctum sanctorum’s wooden platform and the Dwarapalaka (gatekeeper) sculptures were subjected to expert analysis. The scientific examination was conducted to determine whether the gold-plated layers currently present at the Sannidhanam are the same ones that were gilded by the UV Group in 1998.

This examination report will be crucial in ascertaining whether the gold plating at the Sannidhanam was replaced or altered. The scientific report is considered to be of great importance in the investigation of the Sabarimala gold theft case. The report was submitted to the court while a former Devaswom Board member was being questioned in custody.
