Actor Jayaram Summoned by ED in Sabarimala Gold Case Investigation
The Enforcement Directorate has summoned actor Jayaram for questioning in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to the Sabarimala gold theft case, officials said on Friday.
The agency is also in the process of summoning Unnikrishnan Potti, the alleged prime accused in the case. He was recently released from jail after obtaining bail from a Kollam court in the same case, which is also being investigated by a police Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Officials said that Jayaram has been called for questioning in the Sabarimala case and is expected to appear before the agency in the coming days.
The SIT had earlier questioned Jayaram in Chennai. Reports say that a video showing the actor and Unnikrishnan Potti performing a puja together formed the basis for the SIT’s questioning.
The actor denied any wrongdoing at the time and stated that he has no connection with the company that carried out the replating of the temple’s gold-covered artefacts or with its sponsors.
Today, the SIT once again questioned prime accused Unnikrishnan Potti, who recently secured bail from the Kollam court in the Sabarimala gold theft case.
