Kollam Vigilance Court Grants Bail to Former Thiruvabharanam Commissioner
KOLLAM: The Kollam Vigilance Court has granted bail to former Thiruvabharanam Commissioner K.S. Baiju in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The court granted statutory bail in the Dwarapalaka idol case, and he will be released from jail today. He moved for statutory bail after the 90-day remand period expired. He had earlier been granted bail in the door frames case.
Former Devaswom Board president A. Padmakumar was also granted bail in the door frames case. However, he remains on remand as he is involved in the Dwarapalaka case. Ninety days since Padmakumar’s arrest in the Dwarapalaka case will be completed this week, enabling him to approach the court seeking statutory bail. So far, six accused, including main accused Unnikrishnan Potty, have been granted bail and released.
Former Devaswom Board administrative officer Murari Babu, former Devaswom Board executive officer Sudheesh Kumar, former Devaswom Board administrative officer S. Sreekumar, former Devaswom Commissioner N. Vasu, and Tantri Kandararu Rajeevar have also been granted bail. The accused approached the court for bail citing the failure of the Special Investigation Team to file a charge sheet.
