MoU Signed with L&T for Guruvayur Temple Development Project

GURUVAYUR: A master plan is being prepared for the overall development of the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Swamy Temple to improve facilities for devotees.

Devaswom Minister V. N. Vasavan said that an agreement has been signed with engineering company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to prepare the master plan. The company has also agreed to provide financial support for some projects through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund. He was speaking after inaugurating the Devaswom Poonthanam Day cultural conference and the distribution of financial aid to other Hindu temples.

The master plan aims to improve basic facilities, manage crowds better, and modernise darshan arrangements so that devotees can have a more comfortable visit.

Until the new queue complex is completed, the Guruvayur Devaswom will introduce a Face App system to speed up temple darshan. This is expected to make the darshan process smoother and more organised.

Facilities will also be arranged at the East Nada for devotees waiting in queues to listen to devotional songs praising Lord Guruvayurappan.

The minister appreciated the Devaswom for providing financial assistance to other temples.

The Jnanappana Awards for 2023 and 2026 were given to Prof. V. Madhusoodanan Nair and Vaikom Ramachandran. The function was presided over by Devaswom Chairman Dr. V. K. Vijayan.

MLA N. K. Akbar, Guruvayur Municipality Chairperson Sunitha Aravindan, Devaswom Board members Mallissery Parameswaran Namboodiripad and Manoj B. Nair, and other officials attended the event. Administrator O. B. Arunkumar presented the report, while Dr. V. R. Muraleedharan introduced the award winners.

Financial assistance of about ₹9.85 crore was distributed to 1521 temples and nine Veda schools in 14 districts across the state.
